Boleyn continues to battle course at nationals

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Kelly Boleyn completed her third round here Wednesday at the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship, posting a 93.

The Iowa Central golfer remains among the leaders of those competing in the ICCAC through 54 holes with the final 18 to be played Thursday at the Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club.

She currently has a total of 272 with 17 pars during the week and one birdie.

Boleyn started on the back-nine for the second consecutive day. She had had tough hole but quickly recovered with three consecutive pars on Nos. 13, 14 and 15 to card a 47.

She's had a lot of success on those holes during the three rounds, recording a birdie with six pars.

"It's been a great week down here at nationals," Iowa Central head coach Kris Graewin said. "(Wednesday's) round got away from Kelly a little bit but playing for the fourth day in a row after a practice round on Sunday so I think a little fatigue settled in during this round.

"Hopefully we'll be able to finish up the tournament with all four rounds depending on the weather that comes through over the next day. If this is it for the tournament, I couldn't be more proud and happy for Kelly. She's been an unbelievable player and student for me this year. Her leadership going forward will be a huge part of our program."

On the front-nine, Boleyn started with a pair of bogeys and a double-bogey before picking up pars on both the par-3 No. 4 and par-4 No. 5. She has recorded three consecutive pars on the 135-yard par-3 during the week and two pars on the 354-yard par-4.

Boleyn recovered after back-to-back double bogeys by finishing the day with bogeys on the par-5 eighth, which plays 475 yards, and the par-4 ninth, which is 363.
