Iowa Central made it a clean sweep at its own invitational on Saturday at the Fort Dodge Country Club, as the Triton men's and women's golf squads both captured championships.

The Triton men pulled away from DMACC with a closing-round 293. Iowa Central prevailed by nine strokes overall, with Austin Erickson (71-70–141) and Justin Schipper (73-71–144) placing first and second in the individual race.

"Our men were able to put together a solid round and capture our sixth straight home tournament win," ICCC head coach Kris Graewin said. "Austin's been a great player for us and he put together a great tournament. Our two leaders, Austin and Justin, have stepped in from the first day they got to campus and shown they were ready to compete. They've split the wins individually for our home tournaments over the last three years.

"We need to get a little more consistent scoring in our 3, 4 and 5 spots, but we're extremely deep with talent. It should be a fun rest of the spring."

Triton Sam Evenson was tied for ninth with a 75-76–151. Kai Heilckert (75-77–152) was next in line, with Sam Hlas (76-77–153), Nico Booyens (76-78–154), Alexander Moeller (73-81–154) and Matthew Kruger (81-76–157) not far behind.

The Iowa Central women had a breakthrough win, edging DMACC by two shots and William Penn by seven.

"This is the first women's team victory in my tenure. I couldn't be more proud of how they battled through the wind," Graewin said. "To come as far as we have over the past three years has been crazy."

Abby Gaudian placed third individual with rounds of 83 and 81 for Iowa Central. Olivia Tait (83-86–169) followed, with Kelly Boleyn at 86-90–176.

"Abby was able to put together a solid round (Saturday) and lead our women's team," Graewin said. "I think we've got a chance to compete at our District for a berth to Nationals."

Ashley Michel of DMACC (81-72–153) was the individual women's champ.
