Iowa Central Looking To Dominate In ICCAC

The Iowa Central wrestling team has been selected as the preseason favorites to capture another ICCAC title.

Last year, the Tritons went 5-1 in conference duals and will look to several key returning wrestlers to repeat that success. Iowa Central was the highest finishing ICCAC team at nationals a year ago, placing third overall.

Back for head coach Luke Moffitt are Ashton Eyler, Reymundo Vasquez and Jaxson Roney. Eyler already won a title at an early-season tournament, as did heavyweight Boone McDermott.

Key newcomers include Fort Dodge Senior High state medalist Drevon Ross, Kade Chance, Andrew Gamble, Couy Well, Christian Vertedor, Bobby Tellez and Bret Minor.

The Tritons lost national champions Ethan Karsten and Tyree Sutton from a year ago, along with runner-up Travis Willers and All-American wrestlers Kevin Radcliff, Brian Stanford and Gunner Cash.

Iowa Central opens the league schedule against Iowa Lakes on the road November 13, hosting Ellsworth and NIACC before the Christmas break. They return with dates against Iowa Western, Ellsworth and against vs. the Reivers.

The Tritons are ranked eighth in the preseason NJCAA poll with NIACC second, Ellsworth fifth and Iowa Western 19th.
