AMES - The Iowa Central wrestling team was in action Sunday at the Harold Nichols Open hosted by Iowa State University.

In the 285-pound open division, Boone McDermott placed third, with Ashton Eyler adding a fifth at 174.

McDermott earned two major decisions on the day, including an 11-2 victory over Matt Kent in the third-place match. Eyler scored four wins, pinning Iowa State's DeMichael Franklin in just 51 seconds in his final match.

Several other Triton wrestlers were in the freshman/sophomore division, as Jaxon Roney finished sixth, Bobby Tellez was fifth, Maddy Roney was sixth, Anthony Johnson was fifth, Lawrence Smith-Jackson was third, Quez Bostic was second, Lorenzo Jenkins was second and Kade Hovey was third.
