Iowa Central rolls through Iowa Lakes

ESTHERVILLE - The Iowa Central wrestling team opened their dual season with a convincing 32-17 victory over Iowa Lakes here Wednesday night.

Scoring wins for the Tritons were Maddie Roney, Andrew Gamble, Reymundo Vasquez, Asthon Eyler, Anthony Johnson, Ja'Quez Bostic and Boone McDermott.

Roney earned a 5-2 decision at 133 pounds and Gamble's fall at 157 in 2:49 started a run of six consecutive victories for Iowa Central that turned the dual around.

Vasquez, a former Clarion-Goldfield/Dows standout, claimed a 6-4 decision at 165 pounds and Eyler followed with a fall in 1:43 at 174. 

Johnson scored a 16-1 technical decision, Bostic picked up an 8-1 decision and McDermott ended the night with a pin in 2:36 at heavyweight. 

The Tritons have competed at both the Yellowjacket Open and Iowa State Open. They head to Des Moines for the Grand View Open this Saturday before hosting their first meet on Wednesday, Nov. 20 vs. Ellsworth inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
