Iowa Central Competes At Grand View Open

DES MOINES - The Iowa Central wresting team was in action here at the Grand View Open.

Andrew Gamble was crowned the 157-pound champion of the freshman/sophomore bracket, as he topped Scott Radke of Northeast Oklahoma in the finals, 6-3. Gamble also earned two decisions, a fall and a major decision on the day. 

Boone McDermott gave the Tritons an open division champion, winning at heavyweight. McDermott downed Grand View's Charles Griffin in the finals, 4-0, after earning a fall and a decision. 

Ashton Eyler was sixth at 174 in the open division, finishing the day with two wins.

Daniel Vargas placed third at 125 pounds, going 5-1 on the day. He scored a victory over Matthew Jordan of Iowa Lakes for bronze.

Maddie Roney was sixth at 133, winning three matches.

Iowa Central will compete at home on Wednesday when they host Ellsworth at 7 p.m.
