Tritons hit road to face Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS - Another Top-10 ranked matchup awaits the Iowa Central wrestling team Wednesday night.

Fresh off going 4-1 and placing fifth at the NJCAA Coaches Duals this past weekend, the No. 9 Tritons take on fourth-ranked Iowa Western.

Wrestling is set to begin at 7 p.m.

The Tritons had a number of standout performances over the five-event meet, including a win by Boone McDermott over the top-ranked heavyweight. McDermott is one of six ranked Iowa Central wrestlers.

Daniel Vargas is sixth at 125 pounds, Bobby Tellez checks in at No. 6 at 133, Andrew Gamble is seventh at 157, Ashton Eyler sits fifth at 165, Anthony Johnson is rated seventh at 174 and McDermott is fifth at heavyweight.

Iowa Western, which reached the finals of the duals in Oklahoma before falling to Clackamas, features seven ranked wrestlers including No. 2 Camden Russell (125 pounds), No. 5 Ladamien Sturdivant (133), No. 5 Max Hughes (141), No. 5 Melvin Hernandez (149), No. 1 Isaiah Crosby (165), No. 3 Dillyn Miller (197) and No. 9 Collin Braun (285).
