Former Triton Hawes Returns To UFC Action In January

Former Iowa Central wrestling national champion Phil Hawes will compete once more for the UFC.

Hawes will make his second official Octagon appearance at the scheduled UFC Fight Island 7 event. The card goes down January 16 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi with Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar in the headline bout.

The opponent for Hawes, according to multiple reports, will be Nassourdine Imavov.

Back at UFC 254 earlier this year, Hawes scored a first round knockout in just 18 seconds over Jacob Malkoun. The win improved his record to 9-2 overall.

In 2009, Hawes captured a national title while competing for Iowa Central.

Imavov is 9-2 overall and earned a win on Fight Island over Jordan Williams via decision.
