Luke Moffitt knew it was going to be an uphill climb against third-ranked Iowa Western on Wednesday night.

It was the No. 19 Tritons' home opener after earning road wins over fifth-rated Ellsworth and NIACC.

The Reivers (3-0) won six of the 10 matches and pulled away for a 27-13 victory over ICCC.

"I just think they were ready to wrestle more than we where," said Moffitt. "We were in a lot of matches that I thought would be close, but they just found ways to win."

The Tritons picked up four victories on the evening, but only one by bonus points.

"Our guys waited to long," Moffitt said. "They were wrestling in spurts and not the full match."

Iowa Central's Logan Jones pulled off the upset of the night, knocking off top-rated Fabian Padilla (157).

Jones took a 5-1 lead on Padilla, who was a national runner up a year ago, before closing for a 6-3 triumph.

"That was a big win at 157 pounds," Moffitt said. "Jones wrestled well against the No. 1 kid in the nation."

Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Lane Cowell (133) logged a 5-2 win over Paul Ruff.

"It's always nice to wrestle and win at home and see familiar Dodger faces (cheering on). The band was great, too," Cowell said. "I've been training (in the offseason) to keep gas in the tank for the third period. It was a little bit of a scramble at the end.
