MASON CITY — The eighth-ranked Iowa Central wrestling team wrapped up a perfect ICCAC dual season and the conference championship.

The Tritons (6-0 ICCAC) defeated No. 11 North Iowa 39-6.

"It's huge to finish unbeaten in the premiere conference in the country," said Iowa Central head coach Luke Moffitt. "We've had a solid season and winning the dual championship is a step in the right direction."

The big win this season for the Tritons was a 24-18 victory over third-ranked Iowa Western, sealed by a 13-6 upset win for 10th-ranked DJ Moehring.

On Wednesday night the Tritons claimed eight of the 10 matches.

The Tritons picked up a forfeit win at 125 pounds. Sixth-ranked Trentin Walker (125) bumped up to 133 and earned a 16-4 major decision.

Iowa Central's Ben Fosdick lost a tight 9-7 decision match to third ranked Isaac Church.

No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Matt Sarbo cruised to a 17-2 tech fall at 149.

Darnai Heard trailed against Tanner Warden, but turned Warden for the fall in the final six seconds.

Fourth-ranked Michael Myers (157) won 9-1 over Brock Moore at 165 pounds. Ninth-ranked Lawrence Rosario blanked Marco Gausman 8-0.

Joseph Lewis won a tight 6-4 decision at 197 and Moehring closed with a forfeit win.

"We are picking up momentum a little bit at a time," Moffitt said. "We are learning something each week and peaking a little bit.

"We want to peak by early March and be ready for the national tournament."
