Tritons' Sarbo Named ICCAC Wrestler of the Year

Matt Sarbo, 149 lb wrestler for Iowa Central, was named the ICCAC Wrestler of the Year.

Iowa Central's Matt Sarbo earned ICCAC postseason honors this season.

Sarbo was named ICCAC Wrestler of the Year and became the third Triton wrestler to win the awards since 2018 (Todd Small & Ethan Karsten).

Sarbo is undefeated against NJCAA opponents this season to date, going a stellar 12-0 (per TrackWrestling). For an overall record, Sarbo finished the year at 24-2, with his only two losses coming against Casey Swiderski of Iowa State and Colin Dupill of South Dakota State. At the 149 weight, Matt Sarbo has been dominating the weight class since his freshman year.

The defending 149-pound National Champion looks to repeat this year and end his Iowa Central career on an even higher note. With the National Championships coming up March 1-2 -- he'll look to defend his title in Council Bluffs.
