Competing for the first time in front of their Triton fans at Hodges Fieldhouse this fall, Triton Wrestling was dominant in a 43-10 victory over Iowa Western on Wednesday (12/4) night.

Triton Head Coach, Luke Moffitt, liked the Tritons' fast start against the Reivers, but knows it's early in their season. "We came out and attacked and put points on the board." said Moffitt. "It's early in the season, but I like where we are at and am looking forward to the season ahead with these guys."

Led by #2 ranked Jaydale Whitlock, the 10th ranked Tritons won seven matches in the victory. "Jaydale's match was the premiere match of the night according to the rankings, and he made it look easy picking up the technical fall over #6 Cyus Bucsit in the second period." said Moffitt. "He really forced his style and his pace of wrestling. There aren't a lot of guys that can keep up with him when he's attacking like that."

Drew Cooper, Gary Walker, Kaden King, Sam Libby, Umair Ahmad, Marcelo Rosario also recorded wins for the Tritons.

"Overall, I think we did a good job. We got some key wins that can help us later." said Moffitt. "It was nice to get back to competition after the Thanksgiving break."

The Tritons will be competing at the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake, IA on Saturday (12/7) before heading into winter break. Competition starts at 9:00 AM.
