Tritons crush Hawkeye behind Herbst

Julia Herbst found the back of the net five times as the Iowa Central women's soccer team posted a convincing 7-1 victory over Hawkeye at Rogers Sports Complex Wednesday.

Along with Herbst's five-goal effort, Mara Crimmins and Cecille Nahimana each recorded goals in the victory. Herbst, who has 16 goals and 35 points on the year, was recently named conference player of the week. 

Herbst has eight goals in her last two matches and has scored in five of the last six. 

Iowa Central (6-3 overall, 2-1 in ICCAC) has now won two in a row and four of its last five overall around a 2-1, double-overtime loss to Iowa Western. 

Meike Klever earned the win in net, allowing just one goal on nine shots with eight saves. 

The Tritons return to action Saturday when they host Scott at 1 p.m.
