Trust from Triton coaches has helped Mulvaney

Being thousands of miles from home in a foreign country can be difficult. Add in the stresses of playing collegiate sports, and it can be nearly impossible.

For Iowa Central's Elicia Mulvaney, overcoming her personal hurdles was made possible through the Triton coaching staff's strength and trust in her abilities.

"I chose Iowa Central mainly because I got the big feeling that my coach (Jared Beauchamp) would believe in me," she said. "From coming back from an injury, he was one of the only coaches who trusted that I could get back to the player I was.

"The belief the coaches have had in me has been huge."

A forward from England, Mulvaney started her 2021 season off with a bang, recording a hat trick in a win over Scott. She also had three assists in the match, scoring another goal vs. Hawkeye.

In 2018, Mulvaney played in 11 matches for the Tritons. She suffered a knee injury in the 2019 opener and missed the rest of the season.

Mulvaney has committed to Div. II Young Harris, a college in Georgia, to continue her career.

In the classroom, Mulvaney has taken a keen interest in her Tech and Social Change class.

"I like the diversity of it and learning about how society has developed over the years and the history of how the world used to be," she said. "It's also very relevant and gives a good insight into how you should act in the present day."

Iowa Central (2-1 overall, 2-1 in ICCAC) returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Southeastern at Rogers Sports Complex.
