Iowa Central denied by Iowa Lakes

The Iowa Central women's soccer team came up short against Iowa Lakes here Tuesday at Rogers Sports Complex, 3-0.

The Lakers were able to net three first half goals to gain control of the contest.

"We didn't match their energy or intensity, and once it was 1-0, we struggled to battle back," Iowa Central head coach Rilee Miller said. "We played a better second half, but we have to do a better job of starting out quicker and getting momentum going."

Isabella Chianta and Monica Birkelund each recorded three saves in net for the Tritons.

Iowa Central (3-4 overall, 0-1 in ICCAC) had 12 shots on goal, including four by Jeannette Scholz. Lauren Chetty had two with Vanessa Ellwanger, Maddison Rushton, Ires Tania, Nadia Jaffer, Kayla York and Cameryn Young recording one each.

Next action for the Tritons will be on Wednesday, September 29 when they welcome fourth-ranked Iowa Western.
