Iowa Central closes out regular season

COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Iowa Central women's soccer team finished off their regular season here Tuesday, falling to Iowa Western, 4-2.

Down 2-0 in the second half, Ires Tania cut the deficit to one with a goal off an assist by Jeannette Scholz. Following a pair of goals by the Reivers, Lauren Chetty found the back of the net off a pass from Katie Bennett.

"We showed a lot of fight there over after going down 2-0," Iowa Central head coach Rilee Miller said. "And even at 4-1, the girls kept battling and working to get another goal.

"Our schedule has been tough, but it has also prepared us for regionals. We know exactly what we will be facing and what we have to do to be successful."

Isabella Chianta was busy in net for the Tritons, facing 17 shots. She recorded 13 saves in the match.

Iowa Central will begin Region XI Tournament play on Wednesday, October 27 when they return here to face the Reivers.
