Tritons open regionals with Iowa Western

COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Iowa Central women's soccer team will try to pull the postseason upset here Tuesday.

The Tritons begin Region XI Tournament play against Iowa Western. Match time in the semifinal contest is set for 1 p.m.

During the regular season, the Reivers posted 11-0 and 4-2 wins over Iowa Central (4-8 overall). 

Ires Tania and Lauren Chetty each had goals last week for the Tritons, with Jeannette Scholz and Katie Bennett picking up assists. Isabella Chianta had 13 saves in the match.

Bennett leads the team with five goals, Scholz has four and both Chetty and Kayla York have two. Scholz has a team-high four assists and Chianta has recorded 51 saves. 

The Reivers (13-1) have won seven in a row and are 7-0 at home. Paula Boza has 12 goals and 12 assists, Marie Quentel has scored nine goals with seven assists, and Addison Moser has eight goals. 

The winner between Iowa Central and Iowa Western faces either Iowa Lakes or Indian Hills on Saturday for the regional title. The district championship is Friday, November 5 with the Region 4/24 winner hosting. 

The NJCAA Div. I National Championship takes place November 15-20 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
