Women's Soccer wins 17-0 over marshalltown

Coming off a seven-win season in 2022, Iowa Central Women's Soccer Head Coach Jordan Sibenaller is looking forward to seeing more growth out of his program in their 2023 campaign.

In their first year as a NJCAA Division II program, Sibenaller's squad has high expectations against a new schedule of opponents.

"This is our first season as a Junior College DII program," he said. "Our players are excited to get out and play some different teams from the conference this year."

Returning four key starters in sophomores Abigail Jensen, who started in 12 games contributing 16 points last year; Marissa Kiemen, a 12-game starter; Lydia Zaragoza and Abigail Hersom Sibenaller is also looking toward the leadership of newcomers Eden Palkovic, a forward from Pennsylvania; Klair Heim, a defender from Denver, IA and Renata Mendez, a midfielder from Chile, to lead the team forward in 2023.

"We are really excited to get started," said Sibenaller. "We are looking to improve; we have a great group playing at a higher level than before. "They've set their goals high with hopes to win the region and make a trip to nationals this year."

The Tritons open the season Thursday against Lincoln Land in Springfield, IL followed by a road game in with Saint Charles Community College in St. Louis on Friday August 18. Their home opener is set for September 3 vs. NIACC at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.
