Women's Soccer wins 17-0 over marshalltown

The 17th-ranked Iowa Central women's soccer team made quite the statement here Wednesday afternoon at Rogers Park.

The Tritons picked up a 17-0 victory over Marshalltown, finishing with the most goals scored in a single game since downing Scott in 2020, 15-0.

It was the second consecutive home win for Iowa Central (5-2 overall) and fourth victory over the last five games.

Four different players recorded hat tricks to lead the Tritons, as Eden Palkovic, Abby Jensen, Landry McCoid and Nicole Mares all tallied three goals on the day.

"I was glad to see everyone get a lot of minutes," ICCC head coach Jordan Sibenaller said. "It's exciting to see our team continue to grow."

Lydia Zaragoza had six assists and two goals, Palkovic finished with four and Marissa Kiemen had two. Madison Severn added two goals and Jasmine Valadez Chavez found the back of the net once.

Holly Cowan was perfect in goal to secure the win.

Eleven of the 17 goals came in the opening 40 minutes of play, as McCoid had the first two. Zaragoza followed to make it 3-0 within the first 17 minutes before Rivera haad her hat trick on three goals within seven minutes of play.

Jensen, Severn Chavez and Palkovic rounded out the first half scoring. McCoid tallied her third to start the second half before Palkovic followed with goals at the 48 and 50 minute marks.

Iowa Central has now scored 36 goals on the season with five clean sheets recorded in net.

Next action for the Tritons will be Thursday, Sept. 14 when they travel to Ottumwa to face Indian Hills. Match time is set for 5 p.m. The Warriors are 3-1-2 on the year and have won three in a row, outscoring Jefferson, Western Iowa Tech and Wabash Valley, 12-1.
