MESA, Az. - The Iowa Central women's tennis team kicked off play at the NJCAA Championships here on Saturday going 6-3 in singles and doubles.

Play continues on Sunday through Wednesday. 

Earning wins in singles for the Tritons were Marketa Beladova, Juliana Vidal, Rebecca Van Der Lee, Emma Slade and Rachel Slade. In doubles, the team of Andrade and Van Der Lee picked up a victory.

Beladova took care of Susana Patino from Copiah Lincoln in the first round, 6-3, 6-3, with Vidal besting Sarah Cline of East Central Mississippi, 6-0, 6-1.

Van Der Lee picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory vs. Anna Stringer from Mississippi Gulf Coast to advance with Emma Slade winning 6-1, 6-1 over Myesha Nealon of Hinds and Rachel Slade besting Ashleigh Chelette of Mississippi Gulf Coast, 6-2, 6-0.

Andrade and Van Der lee topped a pair from the University of South Carolina-Sumter in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. 

Sofia Andrade dropped her singles match, as did the doubles teams of Beladova/Vidal and Slade/Slade.
