Triton Women's Tennis off to Strong Start

With a 7-0 win over Mount Marty and a 4-0 win over Evangel University, the Triton Women are off to a strong start in their spring season and moved to 3-0 with their recent 6-1 victory over Simpson on Friday (2/21) at the Fort Dodge Tennis Club.

The Tritons lost only four games on the day and lost their first match of the fall season by a forfeit to illness.

"The women's team is really close and consistently pushes each other to improve. They are loud on the sidelines at our matches and it helps each player play harder on the court," said Triton Head Coach, Isaac Pearlstone. "They continue to improve each week by working hard at practice. They are working on getting faster, getting stronger, and spending time on doubles and attacking the net."

Triton freshman, Danira Kenmeni, or "Money" as her teammates call her, is continuing to lead the way for the Tritons after a great fall season. "Danira is a fighter on the court. She has very quick footwork and is able to constantly make her opponent hit one more ball," said Pearlstone. "Her best win in the fall was a 7-6, 6-1 victory at the Drake Bulldog Classic against a 4-star recruit that was in the top 200 in the nation coming out of high school. Danira showed that she can play and beat DI competition which is very impressive for someone that just started playing college tennis."

Up next for the Tritons are matches with Northwestern College (3/14) and McHenry County College (3/29) before looking ahead to April and nationals.
