Triton Women Score 6-1 Win Over Northwestern
The Triton Women's Tennis team continued their spring season success with a 6-1 win over Northwestern on Friday (3/14) to move to 4-0.
"After going down early in the #1 and #3 doubles matches, the girls we're able to come back and play some great tiebreakers when it mattered most," said Triton Head Coach, Isaac Pearlstone. "The entire team played high percentage tennis in singles and that got us the 6-1 victory."
A dominant doubles performance from Rosaline Lum Akombo and Mazamesso Grace Tchamoussa set the tone for the Tritons as both players turned in dominant performances only dropping a combined two games between both their singles and doubles matches. Danira Gabriel Ndengoue Kenmeni and Tchamoussa led the way in singles not dropping a single game in 6-0, 6-0 wins.
"The energy from Rosaline and Grace's double match was felt throughout the entire match," said Pearlstone. "That energy definitely carried over to wins in other courts in both doubles and singles."
Up next for the Tritons is matchup with McHenry County on March 29th. The Triton Men will also be in action.
"I was very impressed with how we kept our composure and positive energy in the big moments to get the win," said Pearlstone. "We'll look to continue to get better each day as both teams prepare for McHenry."
