Tritons take home nine titles at indoor meet

The Iowa Central women's track team opened up their season at the Coffeyville Winter Invitational with nine event titles, including two from Hannah Connell.

Connell picked up golds in both the 200 and 60 hurdles, earning a national-qualifying time in the 60 hurdles. Odell Frye also clocked in a national-qualifying time in winning the 60 meters.

Kirstyn Beaman, a Humboldt graduate, won the mile and was also third in the 1000.

Other winners for the Tritons included Lilia Alvarez (3000), Madison Johnson (high jump), Victoria Adu (weight throw), Chloe Lenoir (1000) and the distance medley relay of Lenoir, Janae Barksdale, Shaunti Longfellow and Alvarez.

Frye (200), Josie Stackis (3000), Patience Heath (triple jump) and Longfellow (1000) were each second with Adu (shot put) adding a third. 

The Tritons return to action Thursday, January 21 with running events at University of Northern Iowa. The entire team competes Sunday, January 31 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
