VERMILLION, S.D. - Four more Iowa Central athletes secured bids to nationals and nine more Top-10 school records were set during the second day of the University of South Dakota Challenge.

Aries Scott, Dashinelle Dyer, Robin Aguilar Gonzalez and David Bosquez Grimaldo all solidified their spots at the NJCAA Championships.

Scott is currently sixth in the decathlon, with the Top-16 in the event moving on. Dyer claimed his bid in the 110 hurdles, Aguilar-Gonzalez the Steeplechase and Grimaldo the high jump.

Hannah Connell moved into second on the program's all-time lists in the 100 hurdles, Lee Eppie just missed the school record in the 400, James Mackey Jr. (discus) and Chloe Lenoir (1500) moved into fourth, and Jerome Jessup fifth in the 100.

Odell Frye (100) also climbed to fifth with Bosquez (high jump) sliding into sixth and Dyer seventh (110 hurdles).

"The USD Challenge was a great tune-up for us at this point in the season," said Dee Brown, Iowa Central Executive Director of Track and Field. "Lee just missed the school record in the 400 by .01 seconds.

"We had three new national qualifiers and a handful of others that improved their standings in the national rankings. There were also a number of personal bests at the half-way mark in our season."

Jessup won the 200 on Friday with Eppie claiming the 400 (46.48) and Jaheem Hayles the 110 hurdles (13.82). Jessup was also second in the 100.

Frye claimed the 100 (11.51) and Connell the 100 hurdles (13.54) with Lenoir placing second in the 1500. In the field events, Ashley Micheaux was the runner-up in the shot put and Victoria Adu the same in the hammer.

"Our team competed well," Iowa Central head coach Jordan Burkholder said. "Our team is improving every week as we approach championship season."

The Tritons head to Mount Mercy this coming weekend.
