Distance medley grabs silver on opening day

PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Iowa Central distance medley relays finished second and fourth, while three individuals secured medals on the opening day of the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships here Friday.

Taylor McCreedy, Nyadhol Tichiot, Britney Brown and Chloe Garcia Grafing clocked a time of 12:11.55 to earn silver in the distance medley relay. The time is the third-fastest in program history.

Robin Aguilar Gonzalez, Tafari Bishop, Yared Kidane and Hunter Klimek went 9:57.59 to secure fourth in the distance medley. That is the fastest indoor time in school history.

Roman Kuleshkov was fourth in the long jump, clearing 7.55m - the fourth-best in school history. Emma Seidl was seventh in the shot put and Christian Collins eighth in the high jump.

Nicola Paletti sits second in the heptathlon and Aries Scott is fourth. 

Kidane advanced to both the 1,000 and 600 finals with Grafing also qualifying in the 1,000. Jerome Jessup moved on in the 200 with Britney Brown (800) and Adeyah Brewster (60 hurdles) also making it out of prelims.

Currently, the Iowa Central men are eighth overall and the women ninth. Both are the second-highest ICCAC teams.

The championships conclude here Saturday with finals throughout the day.
