Four Tritons Earn Athlete of the Week Honors

Andrew Wiles – Iowa Central – Freshman 
Iowa Central's Andrew Wiles participated in the Kohawk Invite over the weekend. The freshman bowled five games at the tournament with 187 bowlers participating. Wiles placed 7th after averaging 218.2 per game. He opened up with an impressive 279, his highest score of the tournament. From there his other four games averaged 203. Andrew was the highest finisher not only at Iowa Central but also amongst all two-year schools in attendance. He narrowly missed making the all-tournament team, awarded to the top 5, by just 26 pins.

Mohamed Dahmouch – Iowa Central – Freshman – 1000 Meters
Mohamed Dahmouch set a school record in the 1000 Meters this past week and now leads the NJCAA in the event for the 2025 season. Dahmouch ran a 2:23.51, which if he would have run that in last year's Indoor National Championship he would have won by two and half seconds. In addition to leading the country right now and setting a Iowa Central school record, which has had three National Champions in the event in its history. The time was also the fastest ever in NJCAA history on an oversized track. What a performance.

Zuriya Robinson – Iowa Central – Freshman – Weight Throw, Shot Put
Zuriya Robinson competed in the Weight Throw and Shot Put events this past week at the Jack Johnson Classic. In the Weight Throw, Robinson threw a 17.00 meters which hit the national qualifying mark and earned the fourth-best distance in the NJCAA this season. The 17 meter mark is also the 17th best in Iowa Central history. Comparing her Weight Throw to last year's indoor National Championships, Robinson would have placed fourth with the second best throw for any freshman. In the Shot Put Robinson threw 9.92 meters.

Annabelle Petsinger – Iowa Central – Freshman – 124lbs
Annabelle Petsinger had a perfect 3-0 performance at the 124 weight class this week for Iowa Central. All three victories came by fall in the first period. Her week included a 24-second pin against now #5 ranked Jamisen Ortega of Southeast (Neb.). She also took down Madison Roe of Carl Albert State (Okla.) in 1:04. Finally, she pinned Jenesis Sanders of NIACC in 1:25. Petsinger is up to No. 2 in the country in the latest poll. She'll be back on the mat on Feb. 1 at the Grand View Open.
