Region 11 Runner-Up Finishes for Men's & Women's Track & Field Teams
The Tritons finished as Region 11 runners-up for both men and women. The women's team race came down to the final events with the Tritons falling 10 points short of victory. Last year the men's team finished third for the first time in school history and were a solid second place this weekend despite being ranked 3rd in the region. Both teams are vastly improved from a year ago. The Iowa Central men and women are both ranked 5th nationally and look forward to competing in the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX on March 7th and 8th.

Coaches Corner
"While we're disappointed we didn't bring home team titles, we are so proud of the way both teams competed. We asked a lot out of some of them, and they just kept showing up for the team"
"Abbi Hutchinson scored 33 points, competing in 6 events, that is the most points of anyone in the meet. Eden Brouwers scored 26 points scoring in 4 events. Chakib Cherkaoui Rhazouani tied for the second most points on the men's side winning the 5,000m and taking second in the 3,000m."
"This team isn't done yet, we'll head into the national meets with high hopes to bring home many All-American awards, some individual national titles and hopefully two team trophies," Head Coach Anne Cleary.
"We had a great weekend of performances. Our team stepped up and truly supported each other all weekend long – it was fun to witness. We added three new national qualifiers after converting their times from a 200m flat track to a banked track. We believe all three of our men and both our women in the heptathlon and pentathlon will advance to nationals, that field is set at a maximum of 16 entrants. We believe we might have picked up two additional qualifiers after all the results are in from the weekend. As of Monday, anyone who has not hit a qualifying mark but is still ranked among the top 16 entrants will automatically advance. Currently Eden Brouwers with a big PR in the high jump this weekend and our women's 4x400 relay both should secure spots," said Coach Dee Brown.
