Three Tritons earn ICCAC Athlete of the Week Honors
Tony Williams – Iowa Central – Freshman – 200 Meters, 400 Meters
Iowa Central freshman Tony Williams had a stellar performance at the Reiver Rust Buster, marking a strong start to his collegiate outdoor career. Williams claimed first place in the 400 meters with a time of 49.59 and finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 23.62. His impressive finishes in both events highlighted his potential and set the tone for what promises to be a successful season ahead.
Abbigail Hutchinson – Iowa Central – Freshman – 1500 Meters, Pole Vault
Abbigail Hutchinson had a standout week at the Reiver Rust Buster, setting two personal bests and earning two wins for Iowa Central. The freshman claimed first place in the 1500 Meters with a time of 4:59.22, showcasing her speed and endurance. In addition to her success in the 1500 Meters, Hutchinson also had a remarkable performance in the Pole Vault, clearing a 2.45-meter bar—marking the third-best Pole Vault performance in Iowa Central history. Her impressive feats demonstrate both her versatility and potential as a rising star in track and field.
U'nitee Brown – Iowa Central – Freshman – Shot Put, Discus, Javelin
U'nitee Brown had an outstanding performance at the season-opening outdoor meet, competing in the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin. She set personal records in two of the three events, starting with a third-place finish in the Discus with a throw of 35.85 meters, marking a new PR. She then followed up with another PR in the Javelin, tossing the implement 28.17 meters. While her Shot Put throw wasn't her best, she still hit the national qualifying standard and currently holds the NJCAA No. 1 mark with a 13.31-meter throw. Brown's versatility and strong performances across multiple events made her a standout in the meet.
