For the fifth consecutive season, the Iowa Central volleyball team produced a Div. II All-American player, as Abby Lohrmann was named to the second team recently.

Lohrmann, a sophomore, follows in the footsteps of Gabby Sullivan, Hayli Dorfmeyer, Ali Grein and Mattie Gray as being honored.

"I had the most hard-working teammates that pushed me in practice and the best coaches that worked on perfecting my setting skills individually with me every day," Lohrmann said. "Being named an All-American is such an honor for me."

Lohrmann was a key part to Iowa Central's 9-0 run through the ICCAC that resulted in a Top-10 national ranking and 28 wins overall this past year. She also was a starter as a freshman, helping the Tritons to 32 victories and a 10th place finish at nationals.

"Playing for Coach (Sara) Horn, Coach G (Alyssa Guarnaccia) and the Tritons was the best decision I could ever have made," Lohrmann said. "The memories and lessons I have gained from playing in this program are ones I will cherish forever. They made me grow as a volleyball player and as a person, and I can't thank them enough.

"I will remember this honor forever."

For the season, Lohrmann finished with 1,354 assists, which placed her eighth in the country, and 27 aces. She ended her two-year Triton career with 2,816 assists and 97 aces. She was named first team all-ICCAC and finished as the runner-up in voting for conference player of the year.

Lohrmann also had 485 digs this past year, 53 total blocks and scored 145.5 points.

She will remain at Iowa Central, entering into the dental hygiene program at the school.

Kirkwood's Alexa Aldrich-Ingram made the first team and Hawkeye's Megan Hudson landed on the second from the ICCAC.
