Tritons fall in five-set thriller with Kirkwood

CEDAR RAPIDS - Despite coming up short in a five-set ICCAC battle with Kirkwood here Wednesday night, the Iowa Central volleyball team still holds serve in the race for a second consecutive league title.

Scores were 24-26, 25-18, 29-31, 25-18 and 15-9.

Kealey Anderson had 24 kills and 18 digs, Amaya Finley had 20 kills and 18 digs, Taylor Bienemann recorded 21 digs and Alesha Johnson had 60 assists. 

Hannah Huss added 12 digs, Haley Alharithy had eight kills and Abbie Stewart chipped in four kills. 

The Tritons, though, remain tied atop the league standings at 5-1 with Northeast and North Iowa Area. Iowa Central is at Northeast on Wednesday, October 23 and hosts NIACC the following week.

Next action for the Tritons will be this Friday when they host Central-Columbus, along with two matches at home inside Hodges Fieldhouse Saturday vs. Cowley and Carl Sandburg.
