Tritons bounce back

The Iowa Central volleyball team reached the 30-win mark on the season with a thrilling five-set victory over Northeast Wednesday night.

With the win, the Tritons clinched home court in the upcoming Region XI Tournament. They can clinch the ICCAC regular season title for a second consecutive year with a victory at NIACC on Wednesday. 

After dropping the first two sets to Northeast, Iowa Central rallied to win the final three. Scores were 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 15-8.

Kealey Anderson had 21 kills and added 27 digs, with Amaya Finley recording 16 more kills to add to her school-record career total. Finley also had 16 digs. 

Taylor Bienemann led the Tritons with 31 digs, as Katie Godfredsen added 12 and 21 assists. Alesha Johnson had 33 assists, 11 digs and two kills.

Karolayne Santos chipped in seven kills, eight digs and five block assists, Haley Alharithy had 10 kills, and Easton Swanson six kills. 

Before they face the Trojans, Iowa Central hosts Marshalltown on Friday night. The Region XI tournament begins Saturday, Nov. 2 and concludes Nov. 3.
