Tritons move to 3-0 with sweep of Bears

Through three matches, the seventh-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team has shown all the hope and promise of securing a third consecutive ICCAC crown.

After wins over Kirkwood and Ellsworth, the Tritons earned a sweep vs. Des Moines Area inside Hodges Fieldhouse Thursday night.
Scores were 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14.

Kealey Anderson had 12 kills, 11 digs and four serving aces, Angel Baylark added 10 kills and Katilyn Steffes had seven with nine digs.

"This win was super fun and clean," said Anderson, a returning All-American. "We're starting to click really well together as a team and it's so great to be part of it.

"We were all about each other, which is something us captains have been really working on. This match was super important to show our true potential."

Iowa Central has claimed each of the past two conference titles and are now 20-1 in its last 22 league matches. The Tritons are also 177-75 since 2014 including 43-10 in the ICCAC and 64-10 at home.

"Being 3-0 is amazing," Anderson said. "We've had a great week on the road and at home. Being at the top of the conference is huge because we're reaching for that three-peat. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us."

Haley Alharithy added four kills, Alesha Johnson had 29 assists and 13 digs and Daejia Rodriguez recorded two serving aces.

As a team, the Tritons had 37 kills, 33 assists, eight aces, 63 digs and 11 block assists.

Iowa Central returns to action on Tuesday at 17th-ranked Northeast.
