No. 8 Tritons rebound with sweep vs. Northeast

The eighth-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team rebounded from their first setback of the season here Tuesday night, sweeping Northeast.

Scores were 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18.

Katilyn Steffes recorded a match-high 23 kills while Kealey Anderson added nine and Angel Baylark eight for the Tritons (10-1 overall, 9-1 in ICCAC) who are right back in action Wednesday night at Indian Hills (3-5, 1-3).

Alesha Johnson had 39 assists and 11 digs with Baylyn Johnson added 19 digs. Haley Alharithy had four block assists and a solo block with Molly McCauley recording eight digs, three serving aces, two block assists and a kill in her first start.

"We started strong but had a little trouble there late in the first set and that carried over to the second," Iowa Central head coach Sara Horn said. "But I felt like we did a good job of regrouping on the court and fixing our problems as they came up.

"And Molly really had a great first start. We know what she's capable of from practice, and we figured we would give her a shot."

Steffes had seven kills in the first set and nine in the second helping Iowa Central overcome a 7-0 deficit in the second. Anderson had five kills during that stretch. Steffes was named the ICCAC Offensive Player of the Week.

"Katilyn really played great," Horn said. "We didn't play well against DMACC, and credit them for what they did, so it was good to bounce back."

The Tritons are now 52-10 in their last 62 matches inside Hodges Fieldhouse and are 26-2 in their last 28 league matches.
