The eighth-ranked Iowa Central volleyball team swept Marshalltown Wednesday.

Scores were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-21.

The Tritons (19-2 overall, 5-1 in ICCAC) were led by Noemia Chiacchio, who had 12 kills. Emily Goodner added nine with Olivia Sturgis, Mercedes Madlock and Araya Garrison each finishing with three.

Madlock had 27 assists and 12 digs, Mya McClain had 11 digs, four assists and six aces, and Olivia Benson finished with 10 digs.

With the win and upset losses in the conference by sixth-ranked Kirkwood and No. 13 Hawkeye, the Tritons are currently tied for first place with Kirkwood and 20th-ranked Des Moines Area.

"Our girls started the night really well, serving aggressive and keeping Marshalltown out of system and struggling to earn points," ICCC head coach Sara Horn said. "As Marshalltown adjusted and started playing better we needed different people to step up and help us win some big points.

"Mercedes did a great job of spreading the offense and working in her own kills and Mya made it really difficult for Marshalltown to find any kills on their side. A big run at the service line and on defense for Natalie Hagadon really helped us come back from a big deficit in set three to get the sweep."

Up next for Iowa Central will be Sophomore Night on Wednesday vs. Ellsworth.
