Volleyball falls to Illinois Central 1-3

East Moline, Ill. - The No. 4 Iowa Central Volleyball Team fell to No. 9 Illinois Central in four sets here Friday night.

The Cougars won the first set over the Tritons, 25-17, while the Tritons came back to win set two 25-18, before the Cougars took sets three and four 25-18.

Leading the way for the Tritons were Mercedes Madlock who had 32 of Iowa Central's 35 assists. Mya McClain contributed with three assists.

McClain let the Tritons in digs with 18, followed by Alexis Hiracheta with 14, Madlock with 12, Noemia Chiacchio with eight assists, Olivia Benson had seven assists, Emma Bilhimer and Araya Garrison each contributed two digs and Olivia Sturgis and Matea Cunningham each had one for Iowa Central.

Chiacchio had 11 kills for the Tritons. Madlock had eight kills, Emily Goodner had seven kills and Sturgis and Garrison each contributed six kills and Bilhimer four.

Iowa Central fell to No. 9 in the rankings for the week of October 30, but continues to move forward toward the postseason, earning a No. 3 seed in NJCAA Region 11. The Tritons will host the Redtails of Hawkeye Community College in a Region 11 quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. November 1 in Hodges Fieldhouse. The Tritons downed the Redtails 3-1 in a regular season ICCAC Conference matchup on October 12.
