Triton Women Wrestle at NCC Open

The No. 3 ranked Iowa Central Women's Wrestling Team competed in the North Central College Open in Naperville, Illinois on December 10.

Wrestling for the Tritons were Myah Rausch, Dianna Pineda, Rodiat Adeduntan, Aniyah Dinwiddie, Kailyn Younger, Bronwyn Brenneman, Avery Reyes, Alexis Ross, Hadlie Hood, Kammie Schanz,and Olivia Fausnaugh.

Rausch received a bye in the first round at 101. She was defeated by fall 5-0 by Providence's Isabella Bocangera in the second-round match and by fall in 1:28 in her consolation match by Sydney Kutzke of Indiana Tech.

Third-ranked Dianna Pineda received a bye in the first round of the 109 bracket and was defeated by fall by Morgan Bethea of UW Stevens Points in the second round. Pineda had another bye in the first round of the consolation matches and won with a fall over Eureka's Gada Bryant in the second round of the consolation matches before bowing out to Lindenwood's Sienna Caruson by technical fall in round three.

Ranked fourth at 116-pounds, Rodiat Adeduntan won her first-round match by technical fall, 12-2, over Davenport's Kelsey Novogradac and second-round match 10-0 with a technical fall over Albion's Jayla Oberst before falling by decision to North Central's Janessa George in the quarterfinals. Landing in the consolation round, Adeduntan lost 8-2 by decision to Arianna Hernandez of North Central.

Aniyah Dinwiddie came out victorious in the first round of the 123-pound bracket with a fall over UW Stevens Point's Olivia Ramirez in 3:29. Dinwiddie lost the second round to Aurora's Bethany Regione by fall. Dinwiddie dominated three consolation matches, winning by fall over Rocherster's Kylie Berringer in 23 seconds; defeating Schreiner's Ileah Brown by fall in 16 seconds and Hannah Arledge of Albion 4:10, before losing by fall to Larissia Kaz of Hastings.

Third-Ranked Kailyn Younger won her first-round match of the 123 brackets with a 10-0 technical fall over over Cornell's Isabella Moore before defeat by fall to William Jewel's Alexandra Waitman in round two and the consolation match by 12-9 decision to Emarie Bolosan of William Jewel.

At 130 pounds, second-ranked Bronwyn Brenneman received a bye in the first round of the championship bracket and won the second-round match with a technical fall over North Central's Kristen Allsup, 10-0. Brenneman lost by fall in 50 seconds to Providence's Alyssa Randles in her quarterfinal match and by decision to Taylor Meiss of North Central in the consolation round.

Also at 130, Avery Reyes received a bye in round one of the championship brackets and lost round two by 12-0 technical fall to Augustana's Moni Griffin and consolation round by fall to Cornell's Cheyenne Mulford.

Third-ranked Alexis Ross went 1-2 for the day, falling in the first round of the 136-pound bracket to Aurora's Natasha Markoutsisby a 14-4 technical fall. Ross bounced back and won by 5-2 decision over Koryna Diaz of William Jewel before losing by technical fall in her second-round consolation match to unaffiliated Emmily Patenaud.

Fifth-ranked, 136-pound Hadlie Hood was defeated in her first-round match by technical fall to Halle White of North Centrall and lost by technical fall to Brooke Schuenemann of UW Stevens Point in the consolation bracket.

At 143, sixth-ranked Kammie Schanz won by fall over Olga Tuiry of Aurora in 2:57 in a preliminary round match. Athena Wilden of William Jewel defeated Schanz by technical fall in the first-round bracket. Schanz won her first and second round consolation matches by fall over unaffiliated Michael Hamp and Quincy's Florida Nikokusenga, respectively, before falling to Hatsings' Raegan Gallaway in a third-round consolation matchup.

Olivia Fausnaugh was defeated in the first round of the 155-pound bracket by technical fall by Augustana's Aine Moffit. Fausnaugh received a bye in round one of the consolation bracket and won by technical fall over Lindenwood's Ryan Garthoeffner 10 before bowing out in the third round consolation match by technical fall to Antonia Phillips of Aurora.

The Tritons have one more meet on Friday December 15 at the Avila Duals before the winter break and will return to action in January 2024.
