Following a season filled with memorable moments, the Triton Women's Wrestling team added one more on Saturday (3/8) night with a 3rd place finish at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships held in Council Bluffs, IA.

The Tritons finished the weekend with seven All-Americans and three individual national champions. As a team, they scored 181 points, finishing behind Iowa Western (191.5) and Indian Hills (294.5).

"We are proud of every athlete who toed the line this weekend," said Triton Head Coach, Zak Hensley. "The entire team made the weekend special, which was capped off by a great group of national finalists."

Aniyah Dinwiddie, Alexis Ross, and Delise Villa were crowned national champions and Avery Mohr earned a national runner-up finish. Amaya Fairley Vasquez (4th), Aneth Campos (5th), and Myah Rausch (5th) also earned All-American honors for the Tritons

Sophomore Aniyah Dinwiddie's championship path finished with an exciting 5-2 win over top-seed Angelica Vicente from Indian Hills.

After finishing 3rd last year, Alexis Ross would give the Tritons their second national champion with a 2-2 win by criteria over #2 Julia Chambers from Iowa Western. Ross did not allow a point until the championship match.

Delise Villa defeated top-seed Genesis Gilmore from Indian Hills 5-2 in the semi-final round and #2 Isabella Morgan from Snow College 7-4 to claim her national title. Villa was named Outstanding Women's Wrestler of the Tournament following her championship performance.

Sophomore Avery Mohr upset #2 Amaria Ridgner from Indian Hills 11-2 to advance to the finals where she would fall in a tough 6-5 match with #4 Katie Ramirez-Quintero from Joliet.

"They left everything they had on the mat. It was a fantastic weekend with astonishing victories and gut-wrenching defeats," said Hensley. "We are forever thankful for the group of second-year student-athletes who helped lead us and left their mark on our program."

The Tritons' 3rd place finish adds to their already impressive list of 2024-2025 season accomplishments. The Tritons were crowned NJCAA Women's Coaches Association National Duals Champions in their first appearance and were the first-ever North Central District Region 11 Tournament Champions.
