Three Titles For Tritons In Wisconsin

The Iowa Central cross country team claimed two individual and one team title at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by UW-LaCrosse.

Behind Winrose Chesang's victory, the Triton women defended their team title, while Awet Yohannes was the men's winner. Iowa Central finished third in the men's team standings.

Chesang set a new 6km school record with a time of 21:02.6, besting the previous mark set by Leanne Pompeani at 21:09 in 2015. 

Eleonora Curtabbi was right behind Chesang, finishing second overall in 21:32. Lilian Busienei gave Iowa Central a third runner in the Top-3, claiming bronze in a time of 21:49. 

Florance Uwajeneza was seventh in 22:12 and Lilia Alvarez placed 33rd overall. Rosalie Fish added a 42nd for the Tritons. 

Yohannes finished over two seconds ahead of UW-LaCrosse's Josh Schraeder for top honors. Yiech Pur Biel was 20th in 25:41 with Milos Pendic finishing 25th, Chris Levario 29th and Noah Bundrock 42nd. 

The next time Iowa Central runs will be Friday when they head to Ottumwa for the Region XI Championships.
