At the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas, Iowa Central's Joan Jepngetich took runner up in the 5k CC Open. She finished just over five seconds behind Khloi Bird of Butler (Kan.) with a time of 18:49.2. It was Jepngetich's personal best, as she is just a freshman for the Triton's this fall. Her time was 46 seconds faster than her previous best from four weeks ago. There were 179 runners in the race.
