Bifa named ICCAC Female Athlete of the Week

Freshman Yididiya Bifa participated in the Hawkeye Cross Country Invitational this past week and performed exceptionally well in her first NJCAA race. Bifa was the only woman from a two-year school to finish inside the top 20 runners (the race featured runners from four-year schools, Iowa, Bradley, and Illinois State) In. She completed the competition in sixth place with a time of 14:29.7, this was also the second-best time by any underclassman at the Invitational. She ran an average mile pace of 05:49.9 in the 4k race. Her time was almost 30 seconds faster than the next ICCAC finisher at the event, Barbara Nieva of Iowa Western. Bifa is already competing against the best and as a freshman, this is impressive to say the least. Next up for Bifa and Iowa Central is the Augustana Twilight this Friday.
