The Iowa Central Women's Cross Country team has competed three times this season and each time a new runner led the team and won the Athlete of the Week Award from the ICCAC. Abbi Hutchinson took 32nd place in the pool of 230 runners at the annual Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invite last weekend in Lincoln, Neb. The freshman was the fastest of the ICCAC runners at the event who attended from Iowa Central and Iowa Western and the fourth fastest NJCAA runner. She put up a time of 18:49.6 in the 5k race which is a 06:03.5 mile pace. The freshman did not PR, but she proved that she will be someone to keep an eye on when the Region 11 Championships roll around. As a team, Iowa Central finished ninth of 23 teams in attendance, and the highest of the three NJCAA groups with team scores.
