Yididiya Bifa of Iowa Central took on the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas over the weekend. Bifa finished in 22nd out of the 249 runners that ran the 5k. She ran a personal best with a time of 17:09.1 which ranks fourth all-time in school history. It was the second 5k that the freshman has run this season. Previously in the Augie Twilight on Sept. 6, Bifa ran a time of 18:12.5 -- meaning she already increased her best time by over a minute. The Tritons have some time off before their race on Oct. 19 at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer event in Wisconsin.
