Ottumwa, IA - The Triton women attained the 1st place crown at the Indian Hills Invitational, hosted by Indian Hills Community College, at the Cedar Creek golf Course. Finishing first out of ten teams, the Tritons were led by Maud Lambotte, with her 2nd place finish and a personal best of 18:23.4, in the 5k race. Also finishing among the top ten individuals were, Marie Garret in 3rd with a time of 18:39.6, Abbi Hutchinson taking 4th with a time of 19:00.5, and Juliette Gavois finishing 9th at 19:57.1. Also running for Iowa Central were, Natalie Bogdanova Kirilova in 19th place, and Dari Cook in 49th.
"Every week our women look stronger and stronger. We didn't run two of our top seven runners and everyone stepped up. Maud was a leader in our front pack this week and finished as our top runner. She is the fourth different person to be our top runner which is a great testament to our team's strength and depth," said Coach Dee Brown.
The Iowa Central men's cross country team also competed, finishing 3rd out of 10 teams. Mohamed Dahmouch was the lead Triton, finishing first on his birthday, and claiming his first individual win for the season. Dahmouch's time of 24:08.8 in the 8k, is also a personal best and the sixth best time in school history. The Tritons saw more personal bests with Evan Paplow in 15th at 26:51.3, and Rodney Maracle in 24th with a time of 27:18.4. Other finishers were Ben Reyes in 33rd, Landon Fuller in 37th, and Kaden Golder in 41st. Fuller and Golder were also able to claim huge personal bests of 28:29.0 and 28:59.5 respectfully.
"This was a great meet to do some fine tuning and see some big pr's from a majority of the squad. We were without second, third and fourth runners today so our team score may not have been so impressive, but we were extremely pleased with how everyone competed," said Coach Brown.
The Tritons will be back in Ottumwa on October 25th, as they compete in the NJCAA Region 11 Championships.
