Tritons welcome ASA Miami for first meeting

FAYETTE - The Iowa Central football team will see two programs for the first time ever over the final two weeks of the season.

Up first will be a meeting with ASA Miami here on the campus of Upper Iowa University for the regular season finale. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Harms-Eischeid Stadium.

Iowa Central (4-3 overall) is also set to host the Graphic Edge Bowl a week from Saturday against No. 9 New Mexico Military at Dodger Stadium.

Coming off a convincing 62-20 victory over Ellsworth, the Tritons are looking to conclude this unique spring season strong before preparing for the usual fall schedule in a few months.

Byron Jarrett directed several quick scoring drives vs. the Panthers, throwing for 130 yards and rushing for another 53 with a touchdown. Desna Washington had a breakout game, catching three passes for 95 yards including TDs from Jarrett and Jayce Levy

Jadon Washington, Daylen Boddie, Alex Gully and Jaace Weidemann all found the end zone out of the backfield, with Major Williams and Bihal Kone adding defensive scores.

"It was good to get so many guys into the game (last week)," Iowa Central head coach Jesse Montalto said. "Those guys have been working hard here and it was rewarding to see some of them score their first collegiate touchdowns. These last few weeks are going to be important for us moving forward, and offer a great chance for some guys to show us what they can do."

Jarrett has thrown for 523 yards and rushed for another 227 with nine passing TDs and three more on the ground. Madison Ridgeway has a team-high 26 receptions and 274 yards with Desna Washington recording 301 yards receiving on 13 catches.

Bryant Barrier leads the defense with 40 tackles to go along with three sacks, both Tristin Waugh and Deonte Bryant have five sacks each, and Iowa Central has forced 12 turnovers.

ASA Miami (3-1) has not played since besting the Fields of Dreams Sports Academy back in April, 28-0. They are replacing Arkansas Baptist on the schedule.

The Silver Storm scored a 58-0 victory over Advanced Prep Academy in March, earned a forfeit vs. Community Christian College and lost to No. 2 Snow (27-6) in April.

George Pearson has thrown for 339 yards with four touchdowns, Alec Wyble leads the team with 144 yards rushing and Ahlonte Hari has nine receptions for 222 yards. ASA Miami is the only junior college program in the state of Florida. Pearson is a transfer from Central Michigan and Wyble from BYU.

"We know they are going to have a lot of speed on the field," Montalto said. "And I'm sure they are coming here hungry to play after having so many games canceled."
