Tritons overwhelm ASA Miami

FAYETTE - The Iowa Central football team put an exclamation point on the regular season with a convincing 31-6 victory over ASA Miami here on Saturday.

The contest took place at Upper Iowa University.

After closing out ICCAC play with a throttling of Ellsworth a week ago, the Tritons gained more momentum heading into the Graphic Edge Bowl in the first meeting with ASA Miami.

Byron Jarrett got Iowa Central on the board with an acrobatic TD run late in the first quarter with Jayce Levy hitting Desna Washington on a double pass for the second straight week to give them a two-score advantage.

Jarrett found Levy for a third score in the first half while Colin Swygman made it 24-0 at the half by booting through a 45-yard field goal. Jarrett finished 15-for-25 for 169 yards.

Levy hauled in a big pass from Jarrett that helped set up the third touchdown of the day for Jarrett, who hit Savion Johnson in the end zone for a 54-yard score.

With less than two minutes to go, the Silver Storm got on the scoreboard with a touchdown by Desmond Prusia to Keenan Anunay.

Jarrett ran for 44 yards with Isaac Cechota adding 35. Washing finished with 79 yards receiving, Levy had three catches for 52 yards, Jordan Kumm three for 34 and Daylen Boddie five receptions for 27 yards.

On defense, Garret Ollendieck, Wesley Bazzle and Antoineo Harris each had a sack. Dylan Cain and Ollendieck each had nine tackles, and Bryant Barrier eight.

The Tritons will close out the 2021 spring season next week when they host New Mexico Military in the Graphic Edge Bowl at Dodger Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.
