The Iowa Central Community College Triton Marching Band is proud to announce drum majors for the 2019 season: Alex Dischler, Mariah Fails and Kylee Shannon.

From Fort Dodge, IA, Alex marched in the Fort Dodge Senior High All-American Dodger Marching Band, where he's proud of his second life – fishing. Following Iowa Central, Alex plans to continue towards a degree in Music Education.

"It means everything to be a member of the Triton Marching Band. It gives me so much enjoyment and satisfaction. I'm extremely proud to be a leader in this great band, and to be able to support my fellow marching band members gives me even more pride."

When asked what it means to be a member of the band and leadership team, Mariah Fails shared, "It means to me that I am someone people can go to if they have questions. I am a person that can show people what it's like to have fun making music with others." She also shared that she's proud that has taught herself to play multiple instruments such as piano, guitar and ukulele. Mariah is also entering her second year in the trumpet section with the band. Currently a Psychology and Music Therapy major, she was a member of the Lake Mills Marching Band from Lake Mills, IA during her high school career.

Kylee Shannon is entering her second season as a drum major with the Triton Marching Band, playing baritone saxophone during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. Having performed with the Storm Lake High School Tornado Marching Band, Kylee will finish her Associate of Arts degree this fall, intending transfer on to pursue a degree in Education.

"To be a member of the Triton Marching Band, to me, means to uphold the honor and excellence that helped build up the program from the start. As a member of the leadership team, I hope to spread the values of the marching band but still be a friend to anyone who needs one."

Dischler and Fails will also serve as brass captains while Shannon will assist with woodwinds.

Rehearsals for the 2019 Triton Marching Band begin in August, with a first performance date of August 31 as the Tritons open their home fall football season.
